About Inlight IT

We design, build and run the technology businesses rely on, from managed IT and networks to cloud, security, AI and procurement. Inlight IT has been doing this since 2018, led by senior engineers in Sydney and Newcastle.

Sydney and Newcastle

Headquartered in North Sydney with a Newcastle presence, supporting clients across Australia.

Long-term client relationships

Many clients have partnered with us for five years or more, with growth driven largely through referral and recommendation.

Depth across the environment

Managed IT, cybersecurity, cloud, infrastructure, networking, backup and automation, handled by engineers who know your environment.

Operational discipline

Support, projects, security and improvement work are managed with clear priorities, escalation paths and ownership across the environment.

Why we exist

Who we are

Modern organisations depend on networks, infrastructure, Microsoft 365, cloud platforms, cybersecurity systems and backup environments every day.

When those environments are well designed and consistently managed, they support the organisation quietly. Users can work. Systems are available. Security controls are maintained. Recovery is understood. Technology becomes a reliable operating layer rather than a constant distraction.

Our aim is to keep technology environments stable, secure and well run. We combine engineering expertise, disciplined operations and responsive support to design, operate and keep improving the systems organisations rely on every day.

Our story

Long-standing client relationships

Inlight IT combines engineering depth with genuine client focus. That combination goes back to our founder, Alex Pletnev, who moved from technology architecture into leading managed services before founding the company in 2018.

Most of our growth has come through client referral, and many clients have worked with us for five years or more.

What we bring to that relationship is depth. We act as a single accountable technology partner, connecting support, security, infrastructure, networks, cloud and automation. We offer the breadth of capability enterprise providers bring to large organisations, with the agility, attentiveness and continuity that organisations rarely find at that scale.

In 2026 we established a permanent office in Newcastle. We supported clients across the Hunter and Central Coast from Sydney for years, so we know regional operations well: distributed sites, lean internal IT teams and long distances between locations. The Newcastle office formalises a presence we already had, and opens the door for more regional organisations who would prefer a technology partner that knows the territory.

“Technology is the discipline; the client relationship is the work.”

The Inlight IT way

Six principles we work by

Reliable technology comes from good design, clear ownership and steady day-to-day discipline. These principles guide every system we build and every environment we operate.

01

Blueprint-first design

We plan before we build. New systems are mapped, tested and owned from day one, so infrastructure decisions are deliberate rather than improvised.

02

Ownership and discipline

Every process, including patching, monitoring, offboarding and access review, has a named owner. We automate maintenance cycles and audits so that nothing slips through the cracks.

03

Security by default

We build security into identity, endpoint management, Microsoft 365, networks, backup and remote access from the start, so protection is part of how the environment runs.

04

Engineering beyond ticket handling

Day-to-day support matters, but recurring issues, architecture gaps and resilience risks need to be addressed behind the queue. Senior engineers focus on the environment as a whole, not only the next ticket.

05

Business-centric thinking

We translate technical complexity into practical business decisions. Every recommendation is measured by operational impact: reducing risk, improving resilience, supporting growth and making the environment easier to run.

06

The Inlight IT standard

We resolve complexity rather than manage around it, and we engineer out problems before they become incidents.

Operating model

An operating model that keeps improving

Technology environments improve through ongoing engineering work, not a single project. Every engagement runs on the same four-step model, whatever its size.

01

Assess and Design

Understand the current environment, its risks, dependencies and gaps, then design a practical architecture for security, performance and scale. Nothing assumed, everything documented; no change before we understand what exists.

02

Build and Secure

Implement improvements without disrupting operations. Stabilise first, then introduce change in a controlled sequence that protects production throughout, with security built into the architecture rather than added later.

03

Operate and Support

Proactive management and engineering support: monitoring, planned patching, clear ownership and escalation pathways.

04

Improve and Evolve

Continuously improve the environment as technology and business needs change, with a forward-looking roadmap aligned to the organisation's direction.

The ecosystem

The technology we work with

We work across a focused technology ecosystem. We choose platforms for how well they fit each client, then configure, secure, monitor and support them as one system.

Each layer is designed, deployed and operated as part of one environment. How we choose, and where each platform fits across our services, lives on the partners page.

Industries we serve

Industry context shapes the design, not the engineering standard

We have particular depth across the following verticals. Select one to see how the standard lands there.

Manufacturing and Industrial

Operational continuity, infrastructure lifecycle, secure access, network reliability and systems that keep running.

Legal, Accounting and Advisory

Microsoft 365 security, identity, data protection, client confidentiality and scoped engineering.

Property and Construction

Project teams, external consultants, secure access, Microsoft 365, business email compromise protection, cloud and mobility.

Architecture and Engineering

Project files, collaboration, remote access, workflow applications and consistent support across studios and sites.

Healthcare and Clinics

Clinical availability, recovery readiness, backup evidence, identity control and infrastructure resilience.

Not-for-profit Organisations

Practical security, identity, backup, donor data protection and IT environments that work within tight budgets.

Our people

Leadership

We’re led by two founders with complementary strengths: engineering and managed services on one side, commercial, financial and operational leadership on the other.

Alex Pletnev, Founder and Managing Director, Inlight IT
Alex PletnevFounder and Managing Director

Alex has more than 20 years in technology, including senior technical and architecture roles with Meridian IT, Coca-Cola Amatil, Tyco and Australian Aerospace (part of Airbus). He leads Inlight IT's technical direction and works directly with clients on the decisions that matter most: where systems are fragile, where risk sits and what to fix first.

Natalia Pletneva, Co-Founder and Director, Inlight IT
Natalia PletnevaCo-Founder and Director

Natalia leads Inlight IT's commercial, finance and operational functions. A CPA, she has more than 20 years in senior finance roles with major Australian property groups, including Lendlease, Aqualand, ALAND and Coronation Property. She brings that commercial discipline to how the business scopes work, prices services and builds long-term client relationships.

The engineering team

Our engineering team works across managed IT, cybersecurity, secure networking, cloud and infrastructure, AI and automation, and IT consulting. The value is continuity: knowing the client, knowing the environment, and understanding what has already been changed before the next decision is made. What we ask of every engineer is the same thing our clients ask of us: fix the cause, not the symptom.
